A Special Gift from Walt Disney

Mike's father was an extremely talented mural hanger. Walt Disney and the rest of the Disneyland construction crew knew and appreciated his amazing gift. 'Sam' was known to be the only person who could hang the beautiful hand painted murals in one piece, without cutting them into pieces.
One day, while working on Disneyland, Walt Disney walked up to Mike's father and handed him a specially painted hard hat which Walt had personalized with Sam's name and Mickey and Goofy hand painted by the animators in Burbank.

As a child, Mike said he and his brothers played with the hard hat exactly like kids would have been expected to, never realizing or appreciating the 'magic' and special history the hard hat possessed. Now, Mike proudly wears it to the park on his many visits and is always happy to share the hat's special history.
